Susan Pine is an artist who works to express her designs in metal, creating items that are functional decoratively, while also having intrinsic worth as artistic collectibles. The high detail and dimensionality which the process of acid-etching affords is particularly important to her work.

Limited by this medium to the simple colors of the platings which are used, Susan creates interest with texture and form, always focusing on the impact each piece will have both as part of a collection and as a single cherished possession.

"This work is reflective of my relationship with others and with my environment. I try to create pieces that convey the feelings of continuity and tradition that I experience living in New England. My lakefront studio at Goose Pond provides a setting to refine designs which may have originated as ideas or inspirations during travels many miles from my Maine home. Returning to the beauty and peacefulness that is Maine helps me to maintain an equilibrium in my life which is, hopefully, reflected in my designs."

For the most part self-taught, Susan has studied at Maine's Haystack School of Crafts and exhibits nationally with The Buyers Markets of American Crafts. Her work is shown in galleries and shops throughout the U.S.
